Four Sixth Form students from NULC have been awarded places on summer schools at prestigious UK universities.
The summer schools are organised by the Sutton Trust. For over 15 years, the Sutton Trust has worked with leading universities to improve access for low and middle income young people. The key initiative is the summer school programme for Year 12 students from state-maintained schools. The week long, campus-based summer schools allow bright students from non-privileged homes a taste of life at a leading university and to gain an insight into what it is like to live and study as a first-year undergraduate student.
The students who are taking part are:
Caroline Layzell – Nottingham (Engineering, mathematics and computer science)
Scott Huson – St Andrews (Physics and Astronomy)
Meg Allingham – Durham (Geography)
Jacques Dunn – Cambridge (Chemistry)
